Our Mission

At my AFK (formerly Action For Kids) we recognise and acknowledge individual potential and provide a range of programmes to address the hurdles that disabled children and young people face. Our goal is to help improve mobility and develop children and young people’s skills and prospects to enable them to achieve a better quality of life and health, access new opportunities, and achieve success. Our organisation works with 100s of disabled children and young people each year to help enable them to overcome many of the social, physical, and financial barriers to their independence.

How we do it

my AFK (formerly Action For Kids) is a national charity supporting disabled children and young people age 0-25 by providing mobility equipment around the UK, as well as preparing students with learning disabilities for life after school through our accredited education, training and work experience programmes.

Our Mobility Services team provide specialist mobility equipment for children and young people up to the age 25 that is not covered by the NHS. This includes powered and manual wheelchairs, specialist trikes, buggies, car seats, walkers, power packs, and power assists. Our Education and Training Services team helps young people with learning disabilities prepare for life after school, working together with local schools to provide individualised work experience placements and life skills training. Our Life and Work Services team build on this work, offering 19-25 year olds opportunities to develop the skills to live more independent lives and move onto paid work. Our Education and Training programme and Life and Work programme sessions are run in our Hornsey office, currently reaching 8 boroughs in north London.
