Path Head Water Mill is as working Watermill based in Blaydon, Gateshead restored 22 years ago by the trust from a derelict car brakers yard.
The charity supports the local community by using volunteers to deliver its services and are at this time developing a derelict allotment adjacent to the site for the benefit of the community from the age of 4 to 4 score years. This will have home grown vegetables to further enhance community involvement as the fresh food will go direct to them.
Our main aim is to sustain our support for the community continuing into 2019 so that those we have supported over the last 20 years don’t fall into a social void where their support suddenly disappears.
By comprehensive fundraising over a period of 22 years we have managed to keep the continuity of our project so that the disadvantaged in the community can benefit from our tranquil location.
We use local volunteers as and young people as well as individuals with learning and physical disabilities who in return learn the ropes of horticulture, wood working, dry stone walling and hedge laying.
We provide support and learning opportunities to the volunteers and maintain the site for its historical worth.
The new project we are looking to start soon is the development a derelict allotment adjacent to the site for the benefit of the community from the age of 4 to 4 score years. This will have home grown vegetables to further enhance community involvement as the fresh food will go direct to them.
